Immediate Supervisor: Principal
Job Qualifications: Provisional or standard teaching certificate for
appropriate grade/subject area.
Specific Duties:
1. Is responsible for fulfilling the teacher job requirements as stated in the Kentucky Revised Statutes.
2. Meets and instructs assigned classes at the time designated.
3. Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of
the resources provided by the district.
4. Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate
superior.
5. Requires students to maintain standard of classroom behavior.
6. Employs a variety of instructional media consistent with the physical limitations of the location
provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
7. Strives to implement by instruction and action the district’s philosophy of education and
instructional goals and objectives.
8. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and
facilities.
9. Evaluates student progress on a regular basis.
10. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and
administrative regulation.
11. Assists in upholding, enforcing, and implementing school rules, administrative regulations, Board
policy, and state mandates.
12. Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside
the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
13. Attends and participates in faculty meetings.
14. Cooperates with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and
methods.
15. Assists in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
16. Accepts a share of responsibility of co-curricular activities.
17. Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents
concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
18. Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with others.
19. Provides for own professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars,
and conferences and/or advanced course work at institutions of higher learning.
20. Actively participates in professional learning opportunities to develop professionally and to
contribute to school improvement.
21. Understands and implements individualized educational plans and 504 plans effectively, including
collaboration and co-teaching with appropriate special education staff members as needed.
22. Supervises students as assigned by principal or designee.
23. Assumes responsibility for additional school related duties assigned by Principal or Superintendent
